I think that there's definitely something to guerrilla design - it's certainly a way of getting attention, with the desired end goal of a better user interaction.  My problem is that GD is easy enough with simple products (such as Starbuck cup designs), but I don't know many designers who would willingly throw away a prototype to their local Best Buy; the manager on duty would certainly chuckle at the new mouse, but more than likely put it in the trash.  Now, if we could hit 50 Best Buys across the state... THAT would be worth doing.</description>
